Character Cake Pops

Here at Molly Bakes every day is filled with fun! We get asked to do all sorts of characters, some of them familiar, some of them we have to google! Do you know what they all are?

Oops

How utterly terrible of me! I haven't blogged for months, FOUR months to be exact. Time flies when you're having fun! Fell down the cakehole for a while but I'm back now and you won't be able to get rid of me, that's a promise. The last few months have been just crazy. 2012 has certainly started with a bang. Moved into a gorgeous new flat with the hubby in Dalston (after a six month search) and we've been busier than ever in the kitchen. Sometimes I look back and wonder how I fit it all in. I do wish there were more hours in the day! Here's a snapshot of my favourite bits so far this year.
One of our favourite fashion retailers Matches paid us a visit back in January and together we created magic in the kitchen for this fine jewellery shoot. The idea behind the shoot was some Marie Antoinette inspired cakes that the jewellery can sit on - our miniature two tier cakes look like beautiful French pillows. We loved this shoot! And here's a link to a video of how the cakes were made...see magic!
One of our lovely customers ordered some KaiKai Kiki inspired cake pops. For those that don't know this is the art production company by Takashi Murakami, the artist behind those fab Japanese LV logo bags a few years back. Little did I know these would actually be going to Murakami himself...ooh the pressure!
For Mother's Day we brought back our gorgeous cupcake bouquets. Soon we'll be putting them on our product list full time. Love making these!
In February we were invited by the British Fashion Council to host a pop up tea room at London Fashion Weekend. What a ridiculously busy but fab four days that was. We loved baking beautiful, delicious, fresh cakes every day and hosting the tea room alongside Wayne Hemingways Vintage and Kusmi Teas. The feedback was just wonderful and we're looking forward to the next one in September. We decked out the space with vintage furniture - god it's time consuming sourcing all this stuff but so worth it in the end. It looked fab.
Don't they look gorgeous?! We'll be hosting more pop up tea rooms throughout the summer so keep your eyes peeled for updates.
Haha the Italians have great humour. This article in Urban Magazine was about how 2012 would be the swan song for these 8 celebs. Not necessarily our view and I don't know exactly what it says - can any Italian friends translate? We were asked to create these celebs in cake pop form; Bjork, Madonna, David Beckham, Damien Hirst, Gordon Ramsay, Leonard di Caprio, Banksy and Kirsten Stewart.
Some more international press for Molly Bakes - this time in Baltic Airlines in flight magazine, an interview with l'il ol' me about the cake pop trend in London.
We've been lucky enough to work with some of the biggest brands in the world, creating cakes for their events and all sorts. It's always exciting to receive those kinds of phone calls. This year so far we've had fabulous orders from Mr Porter, Google and Stella McCartney to name afew. A pic of our sea of Stella cake pops above. So that's all the highlights for now. There are more to come but I'm not a fan of huge blog posts so we'll save them for later, yeah?

What are you doing on Sunday?

We are doing a stall at The Secret Emporium Christmas Market in Shoreditch - so looking forward to this as it's organised by the same peeps as Secret Garden Party and they know how to put on an event!

Winter Wedding Cupcakes

I love a Winter Wedding, the depth of the colours and themes you can have is fabulous. We were excited to design make lots of these bauble cupcakes for Lucy and Dan who got married last weekend after they fell in love with our Christmas fondant range.

Alice In Wonderland Cupcakes

Staff at Amnesty International ordered these for a colleague's baby shower - what a great little project they were.

Which one is your favourite?

Fashionistas

Andre Leon Talley, Karl Lagerfeld, Anna Wintour

Donatella Versace, Victoria Beckham, Vivienne Westwood

The British Fashion Council

It was really funny to receive an email containing pics of the entire staff of the British Fashion Council so they could be turned into Face Cake Pops for their Christmas party, oh and they also asked for Karl, Anna, Donatella, Victoria, Andre Leon and Viv to join them . Apparently they'd got Bompas & Parr to do the savouries - how fab.
